Available workflows

The following tables describe the workflows in VMware vRealize Orchestrator (vRO) that help you configure and provision VxBlock System 350, VxBlock 540, VxBlock 740, and VxBlock 1000 components.

Configuration workflows

To run workflow automation, you need to establish a connection between VMware vRO and VxBlock Central Orchestration services using the configuration workflows.

Workflow Task

Add VxBlock Central Orchestration Services API gateway

To add an API gateway that VMware vRO uses to access credentials and endpoints in VxBlock Central Orchestration Services.

Update VxBlock Central Orchestration Services API gateway

To update an API gateway that VMware vRO uses to access credentials and endpoints in VxBlock Central to the correct API gateway URL.

Add a VMware vCenter server instance

To add a VMware vCenter instance, credentials, and domain name for VMware vRO workflows to function.

Service workflows

Service workflows help you provision Cisco UCS B-Series blades and add them to a host cluster. After you run a service workflow, a corresponding fulfillment workflow is created using the same service profile, which you can run to provision up to five blades at a time.

Provision Host (Bare Metal)

These workflows help you create a service profile from a service profile template and associate the profile with one to five Cisco UCS B-Series blade server in your Bare Metal VxBlock 740 and VxBlock 1000 system.

Provision Host (ESXi) & Add Host to Cluster - VMAX3/PowerMax Boot
These workflows help you create a service profile from a service profile template and associate the profile with one to five Cisco UCS B-Series blade server in your VxBlock System with virtualization. These workflows also help you do the following:
  • Determine unprovisioned hosts
  • Identify available resources
  • Select the corresponding zoning and masking
  • Install ESXi
  • Add servers to an existing ESXi cluster

Add a host to a cluster

This workflow helps you add a provisioned Cisco UCS B-series blade server to a VMware vCenter cluster, enabling you to use the server in the production network in your VxBlock System.

Fulfillment workflows

A fulfillment workflow is created after you run a service workflow, which allows you to provision multiple Cisco UCS B-Series blade servers using the same service profile created when you run the corresponding service workflow. You can run multiple fulfillment workflows concurrently. A list of the fulfillment workflows:
  • Provision Bare Metal Server - UCS
  • Provision Bare Metal Server using VMAX Boot LUN
  • Provision Host (ESXi) using VMAX Boot LUN
  • Provision host (ESXi) using SD Card Boot
  • Provision Host (ESXi) using Unity Boot LUN
  • Provision Host (ESXi) using XtremIO Boot LUN
