Update AMP VAPP and DRS rules

Update AMP VAPP and DRS rules. The task is not applicable for AMP-2P.

Before you begin

  • Verify the PSCs and vCSA were renamed from their temporary name to permanent names in the VMware vSphere HTML5 client.
  • Update the AMP VAPP and DRS rules.
  • Update the VAPP and power on settings to include the following:
    • New PSCs
    • New vCSAs
    • NSX Managers
    • New VMs
Update the AMP DRS rules for the new VMs.

Procedure

  1. Add VMs PSC1, PSC2, and vCSA into the resource pool. If the resource pool exists, you may move the VMs there. If not, create a resource pool and move the VMs. Follow the steps to move the VMs:
    1. Right-click the VMs PSC1, PSC2, and VC01. Select Move To…
    2. At the Move To… pane, expand the Datacenter, Hosts and Clusters, AMP-CORE cluster, and Local Management Workload resource pools.
    3. Highlight the new resource pool (for example Local Management Workload) and click OK.
  2. From the HTML5 client, select AMP-Core Cluster, and then select the Configure tab. Under the Configuration sub menu, select VM/Host Rules and edit with the following information:
    Name Type Members
    PSC1-PSC2_SVM Separate Virtual Machines

    PSC1

    PSC2

    PSC1-VC01_KVM Keep Virtual Machines Together

    1. Select VM/Host Groups and edit the virtual machine and host groups with the following information:
      Name Type Members
      v01234PSC1 VM Group PSC1
      v01234VC01 VM Group VC01
    2. Select VM/Host Rules and edit the DRS rules to create host affinity with the following information:
      Group Name Type Members
VC01_PSC_VMTVM Virtual Machines To Virtual Machines

First restart the VMs in VM group:

      VM Group: v01234PSC1

Then restart the VMs in VM group:

      VM Group: v01234VC01

NOTE: In the examples, 01234 represents the last 5 digits of the VxBlock System serial number.
