Dell EMC VxBlock™ Systems External Component Connectivity

VxBlock Systems combine compute, storage, network, virtualization, data protection, and management resources in a single converged infrastructure system. VxBlock System components such as network switches, SAN switches, and storage arrays are not designed to be shared outside the VxBlock System.

Best practices are provided for VxBlock Systems that are being prepared for external component connectivity.

The following scenarios are addressed for external connectivity:
  • VxBlock System storage infrastructure with external hosts.
  • External FC tape libraries or backup hosts to the VxBlock System SAN switches to back up the VxBlock System environment.
  • VxBlock SystemIntegrated Data Protection to back up components outside the VxBlock System.

These best practices are provided for:

  • VxBlock System 350
  • VxBlock System 540
  • VxBlock System 740
  • VxBlock System 1000

The target audience includes customers, Dell Technologies Sales Engineers, and Dell EMC partners.

Follow external hardware manufacturer security configuration guidance when connecting external components to the VxBlock System.
