Managing components with VxFlex Manager

Once VxFlex Manager is configured, you can use it to perform the ongoing tasks necessary to manage your VxFlex integrated rack.

The following table describes typical tasks for managing VxFlex integrated rack components and what steps to take in VxFlex Manager to initiate each:

If you want to... Do this in VxFlex Manager...
View network topology
  1. Click Services.
  2. On the Services page, select a service.
  3. On the Details page, click the Port View tab.
Run inventory (VxFlex nodes, switches, VxFlex OS Gateway, and VMware vCenter cluster).
  1. Click Resources and then click the All Resources tab.
  2. Click the check box for the resource you want to update and then click Run Inventory.
  3. After running the inventory, click Update Service Details on the Services page for any service that requires the updated resource data.

If you rename objects outside of VxFlex Manager (such as an ESXi host, volume, datastore, VDS, port group, data center, or cluster), you should run the inventory and update the details for any service that requires the updates.

Add an existing service Click Services and then click +Add Existing Service.
Perform VxFlex node expansion
  1. Click Services.
  2. On the Services page, select a service.
  3. On the Details page, under Resource Actions, expand the Add Resources list and click Node.
The procedure is the same for new services and existing services.
Remove a VxFlex node
  1. Click Services.
  2. On the Services page, select a service.
  3. On the Details page, under Resource Actions, click Delete Resources.
Enter service mode
  1. Click Services.
  2. On the Services page, select a service.
  3. On the Service Details tab, select a component and click Node Actions > Enter Service Mode.
Exit service mode
  1. Click Services.
  2. On the Services page, select a service.
  3. On the Service Details tab, select a component and click Node Actions > Exit Service Mode.
